Meet Dan

Dan Polites - Author, PGA Award winner, Hall of Fame Coach

Dan, a PGA member since 1992, is the Chair of the Gateway PGA T&C Committee, a Gateway PGA Board Member 2019-20, and holds certifications in PGA Teaching & Coaching. Dan has been presented with distinguished PGA Awards, including the Bill Strausbaugh Award in 2019, and the Horton Smith Award in ’97, ’98 and 2018.

Dans’ honors include Illinois Coaches Association Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2018, Golf Digest Top Teachers in Illinois and YMCA Ilinois Volunteer of the Year.

Additionally, Dan is the author of “Golf For Rookies”, which covers all aspects of the game for beginners and provides a reference guide for more experienced players.

Dan’s coaching history spans 24 seasons for the Althoff Catholic High School Boy’s Team. Accomplishments include, twice IHSA State Champions, 1-2nd place at State, 2-3rd place at State, 3 Sectionals wins, 9 Regionals wins, 9 South 7 Conference wins, 51 tournament wins, and a match record 298-104. .741%.

Dan also coached Lindenwood University-Belleville from 2011-2012, and won the USCAA National Championship.

Dan has affiliations with Stonewolf and Yorktown golf courses. He is a staff member with Wilson Golf, Under Armour, and Rapsodo.
